On the 8th of November, 2022, Seven Seas International USA LLC, of Petersburg, Florida, announced their voluntary recall of Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Smoked Salmon of Giant Food Private Label due to a potential health concern. This voluntary recall announcement was published by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) on November 8th, 2022, as well.

The health risk regarding the Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Smoked Salmon is listed as possibly being contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. As reported by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration, (FDA), the Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Smoked Salmon has “the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.” Due to this, Seven Seas International USA LLC is choosing to recall exactly 540 cases of Giant Private Label Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Smoked Salmon, with the Lot code of R4132 and an UPC number of #68826715832. According to Ron Simon, a National Food Poisoning Lawyer, “Individuals who may have consumed the contaminated product and are experiencing food poisoning symptoms, should promptly contact their personal health care provider, local local health officials, and find a food poisoning lawyer.”

The affected Seven Seas International USA, LLC product was distributed within the areas of Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. A refrigerated product, Giant Brand’s Wild Caught Sockeye Smoked Salmon, 4 oz., was packaged in cardboard sleeves with a clear sleeve to display the fish.

As the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and Seven Seas International, USA LLC continues to investigate the causation of the possible Listeria contamination, no illnesses have yet been reported as having been from the recall Giant Private Label Wild Caught Alaskan Sockeye Smoked Salmon.

Customers who have purchased the afore-mentioned affected Seafood product, are encouraged to either discard the product or return to the location of purchase for a full refund.
