Consumer Action
Consumers should check their homes for the recalled products.
As with all recalled food products, consumers are advised to not consume them even if the products look or smell safe.
At a minimum, the affected items should be disposed of immediately along with any other food products that may have come in contact with the recalled seasonings. Newly Weds Foods has not said whether or not the items may be returned to place of purchase for refunds.
As of this writing, no phone number nor email address has been provided by the company for consumers with additional questions or concerns.
Health Risks
It is not yet known if any illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled products. However, consumers should check with their healthcare providers if they have any concerns about potential Salmonella exposure and also monitor for any symptoms of infection.
Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness in humans. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, appearing six hours to six days after exposure to the bacteria. While most people recover without specific treatment, the infection can be severe, especially for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
Commenting on this story, one national food safety lawyer said, “I strongly recommend that consumers search their homes for the recalled seasoning products and discard them if found. Additionally, consumers should stay informed about food recalls by regularly checking sites like www.fda.gov or Food Poisoning News to better protect themselves and their loved ones.”
