A voluntary recall first announced on July 10, 2025 by Navarro Pecan Holdings, LLC, based in Corsicana, Texas, for 15 tons of pecan pieces due to potential Salmonella contamination remains ongoing. Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause serious infections in animals and humans, especially those in vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems.

Background

How the presence of Salmonella in the recalled product was discovered was not announced.

Distribution

The recalled products were distributed in Texas, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Arkansas, New Jersey, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, and Italy.

Consumer Action

Consumers should check their homes and businesses for the recalled products.

As with all food recalls, consumers are strongly advised to discontinue use of the affected products even if they look or smell safe to eat.

Anyone in possession of the recalled products is requested to not sell, serve, donate, or distribute them.

Consumers should thoroughly sanitize any surface, utensils, or containers that have come into contact with the impacted products.

Consumers in possession of the product should call the store of purchase to inquire about a refund. Otherwise, recalled foods should be disposed of immediately and safely.

Health Risks

The recall notice did not say if there have been any reports of illness or adverse reaction in connection with consumption of the impacted products.

Any consumers who are experiencing symptoms of Salmonella infection after contact with the recalled products should contact their doctor right away, says leading nationwide Salmonella law firm Ron Simon & Associates.

Salmonella is a bacterium that can cause severe gastrointestinal illness in humans. Symptoms typically include diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, appearing six hours to six days after exposure to the bacteria. While most people recover without specific treatment, the infection can be severe, especially for young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems.
