Yet another premade salad product has been recalled due to Listeria concerns.

On the 10th of April, 2023, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) published the brand Meijer’s recall of 12 varieties of Fresh From Meijer premade salad. The recall was reportedly issued in coordination with Meijer’s supplier, Revolution Farms, out of concern of contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.

Listeriosis is, according to one National Food Poisoning Lawyer, “…a serious infection caused by eating food contaminated with the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The disease affects primarily persons of advanced age, pregnant women, newborns, and adults with weakened immune systems. However, persons without these risk factors can also rarely be affected … A person with listeriosis often suffers fever, muscle aches, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. If infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms such as headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions can occur. In these cases, often diagnosed as bacterial meningitis or encephalitis, the injury can be fatal.”

The Meijer recall includes pre-made salads which were distributed in the states Ohio, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois. These products’ full brand name, UPC number and Sell By Dates were shared by the United States Food & Drug Administration (FDA) in the following chart:
