Nuts ‘N More LLC Plain Peanut Spread Recalled Due to a Discovery of Listeria
The company Nuts ‘N More LLC recalled their Plain Peanut Spread after routine testing by a third-party laboratory found that it was contaminated with Listeria bacteria. Nuts ‘N More LLC is located in East Providence, Rhode Island and has recalled 4,143 jars of the Plain Peanut Spread. This product was distributed to suppliers in Canada, the UK, along with eight states in the United States. The US states that have been affected by the recall are Virginia, Arizona, Massachusetts, Maine, Rhode Island, Florida, Indiana, and Alabama. The Lot and Expiration, which are located on the lid, are LOT PB91 and EXP 03/04/2021. The company has halted production and is complying with the state and federal investigations and there is no known illness from consumption of the product currently.
Listeria is a type of bacteria that can cause symptoms that mimic other foodborne bacteria, such as diarrhea, fever, and generally patients can recover at home. Women who are pregnant and contract Listeriosis, are at a higher risk for severe complications that can lead to miscarriage, premature delivery, or other life-threatening infections of the newborn. Customers who purchase this product should return the Plain Peanut spread to the place of purchase and receive a refund.
