On the 28th of May, 2022 the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the voluntary recall of Trader Joe’s Lemony Arugula Basil Salad Kit, by Taylor Farms Retail of Guadalupe, California. The salad kit is being recalled due to it possibly containing undeclared ingredients, such as wheat and eggs which could cause adverse reactions.
The Lemony Arugula Basil Salad Kit, which may contain the allergens wheat and eggs, which were not declared on the product label, were distributed at Trader Joe stores across the nation. The product was packaged in 9.75 oz. bags, with the UPC number 0066 2932 and the Best If Used by Date of June 2, 2022.
According to the Mayo Clinic, “a child or adult with wheat allergy is likely to develop signs and symptoms within minutes to hours after eating something containing wheat. Wheat allergy signs and symptoms include:swelling, itching or irritation of the mouth or throat, nasal congestion, cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or anaphylaxis. Eggs are one of the most common allergy-causing foods for children. Egg allergy symptoms usually occur a few minutes to a few hours after eating eggs or foods containing eggs. Signs and symptoms range from mild to severe and can include skin rashes, hives, nasal congestion, and vomiting or other digestive problems.
