Orca Bay Foods, LLC. recalled 356 cases of 10 oz. Trader Joe’s brand Gluten Free Battered Halibut. This recall was made after it was discovered that the product contained both wheat and milk, that was not listed on the packaging. Consumers should check their kitchens for this product, especially if they have a wheat or milk allergy.

The following is some important information for consumers about allergies – where they come from and what they may cause. Allergies occur when the immune system mistakes something in the environment as harmful, and attacks. This reaction can affect the skin, digestive system, airways or sinuses. Food allergies typically cause tingling of the mouth, hives, swelling of the lips, tongue, face or throat, and in some cases, Anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening allergic reaction that may cause a person to go into shock. It may include nausea, vomiting, a rapid, weak pulse, and rash to occur. While many consumers will not be affected by this major packaging glitch, others may fall victim to the misleading description of this product. Consumers should hold companies accountable for their mistakes – especially those that hold such high stakes. The effects this type of mislabeling can have on a person’s life is too serious to be left undisputed.

The product affected by this recall has a Best If Used By Date of November 5, 2021, SKU 00503822, and the code 537312620. This recall is being undertaken with the FDA’s knowledge.
