The recall includes frozen raw beef top sirloin steak items that were produced between February 19, 2018, and March 14, 2018:

Stampede Meats recalls close to 500,000 pounds of meat

A non-meat ingredient, Au Jus Seasoning, that caused the recall of 53,000 pounds of meat by Standard Meats is also responsible for the recall of 484,800 pounds of beef products by Stampede Meats, because of potential salmonella contamination. The seasoning is part of a marinade that is injected into the raw meat. The Au Jus Seasoning supplier notified Stampede Meat that the seasoning had testing positive for salmonella.

The recall includes these frozen raw beef top sirloin steak items that were produced between February 19, 2018, and March 14, 2018:

  • Cases containing 64 6-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “USDA SELECT OR HIGHER BONELESS BEEF TOP SIRLOIN STEAKS,” (item #5404) with lot codes ranging from 05018 to 07318 (inclusive) and “Best By” dates from Feb. 19, 2019 to Mar. 14, 2019 (inclusive).
  • Cases containing 64 8-oz. vacuum-packed packages of “USDA SELECT OR HIGHER BONELESS BEEF TOP SIRLOIN STEAKS,” (item #5419) with lot codes ranging from 05018 to 07318 (inclusive) and “Best By” dates from Feb. 19, 2019 to Mar. 14, 2019 (inclusive).

Recalled Stampede Meat products bear establishment number “EST. 19113” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The salmonella contaminated meat products were shipped to restaurant locations nationwide by distributors working on behalf of Stampede Meats.

Consumers who have taken these products home as leftovers from the restaurants are urged not to consume them. Salmonella contamination can cause serious symptoms, including diarrhea, fever, and abdominal cramps 8 to 72 hours after eating contaminated food.
