Penn Dutch Food Center Locations in South Florida Identified as “Unsafe” by Inspectors

Unsafe conditions, listeria discovered at Florida meat market

Over 3,000 pounds of meat were ordered not to be sold and to be destroyed at two Penn

Dutch Food Center locations in south Florida. Health inspectors from the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Food Safety, found unsafe conditions, including water dripping from the ceilings and from overhead fans into coolers that contained the meat products.

The market in Margate, Florida, destroyed 1,491 pounds of meat, and the market in Hollywood, Florida, was ordered to not sell 1,928 pounds of meat. In addition, inspectors found possible listeria in samples of chicken salad at the Hollywood store. The chicken salad is no longer being sold at that location.

Health officials ordered a stop sale at the Penn Dutch Food Center Hollywood store, located at 3950 N. 28th Terrace, on the following meat products:

  • 508 pounds of chorizo
  • 540 pounds of mild Georgia sausage
  • 432 pounds turkey drums
  • 30 pounds of turkey breast loaves
  • 270 pounds of ham hocks
  • 48 pounds of neck bones
  • 45 pounds of pig tails
  • 55 pounds of pig parts

Meat products affected by the listeria findings at the Margate store, located at 3201 State Road 7, include:

  • 3 pounds of smoked bratwurst
  • 48 pounds of belly buster small beef franks
  • 38 pounds of pork hocks
  • 5 pounds of smokes ham slices
  • 5 pounds of spiral sliced ham
  • 46 pounds of picnic ham
  • 113 pounds of smokes ham
  • 5 pounds of smoked chicken parts
  • 5 pounds of smoke pork butts
  • 4 pounds of smoked pork loin
  • 5 pounds of neck bones
  • 36 pounds of beef franks
  • 58 pounds of smoked chicken sausage
  • 45 pounds of smoked turkey sausage
  • 7 pounds of chorizo
  • 12 pounds of smoked Cajun sausage
  • 15 pounds of kielbasa smoked
  • 9 pounds of Hungarian sausage
  • 40 pounds of Georgia smokes hot sausage
  • 75 pounds of veal franks
  • 3 pounds of pork and beef franks
  • 21 pounds of franks in natural casing
  • 43 pounds of franks mild smoked
  • 16 pounds of franks hot smoked
  • 12 pounds of footlong franks
  • 8 pounds of chicken franks
  • 44 pounds of belly buster franks
  • 12 pounds of beef smoked franks
  • 5 pounds of beef franks
  • 15 pounds of country chicken sausage
  • 6 pounds of beer sausage

  • 96 pounds of boiled ham
  • 29 pounds of pastrami
  • 118 pounds of corned beef
  • 65 pounds of roast beef
  • 34 pounds of raw corned beef
