Another Escherichia coli, or STEC, outbreak at another State Fair is being reported. This time the E. coli outbreak has been linked to the Red River Valley Fair in eastern North Dakota, having been traced there after three children developed E. coli. The North Dakota Division of Disease Control (NDDDC) reports that it is still investigating, but suspects that animals may play a part in the outbreak. The NDDDC is requesting that anyone who attended the fair, which ran from July 7th to 13th, and thereafter became symptomatic with diarrhea, especially if bloody, contact them immediately to enable them to determine how many people were sickened and to help them determine the precise source of the E. coli.

E. coli, a shiga toxin-producing bacteria, causes nausea, severe abdominal cramping, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and in some cases can lead to Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome, or HUS, which can cause kidney failure – at least one of the victims in this outbreak has been hospitalized with kidney issues. In rare cases it can lead to death, though fortunately no deaths have been reported in this outbreak,
For more information on this or any other E. coli outbreak call the E. coli lawyers at Ron Simon & Associates at 1-888-335-4901. The E. coli lawyers at Ron Simon & Associates have represented many E. coli victims, including filing E. coli lawsuits on behalf of their clients.
