On the 23rd of September, 2023, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service shared Green Valley Foods Inc.’s voluntary recall of various Frozen Meat Pizza Products. The Devils Lake, North Dakota-based company issued the withdrawal and ceasing of production of over 4,00 of their Frozen Meat Products after discovering the result of a packaging mixup; an undeclared allergen, Soy.
For ease of identification, the USDA FSIS published the following descriptive list of Green Valley Foods affected in this recall. The list is as follows, including weight and exact titling on packages:
- 22.75-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing pieces of “GRUBBERPUTZ’S TACO PREMIUM PIZZA Made with Taco Sauce, Refried Beans, Beef, Taco Filling, Cheddar Cheese, Taco Tortilla Chips”.
- 24.25-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing “GRUBBERPUTZ’S 3-MEATER PREMIUM PIZZA Made with Pepperoni, Canadian Style Bacon, Pork Sausage”.
- 23.1-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing “GRUBBERPUTZ’S HOG UNIT PREMIUM PIZZA Made with Canadian Style Bacon, Bacon, Jalapeno Peppers, BBQ Sauce”.
- 24.5-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing “GRUBBERPUTZ’S HOUSE SPECIAL PREMIUM PIZZA Made with Pepperoni, Pork Sausage, Green Pepper, Red Pepper, Onions, Mushrooms”.
- 21.75-oz. vacuum-sealed packages containing “GRUBBERPUTZ’S PEPPERONI PREMIUM PIZZA Pepperoni made with Pork, Beef”.
Allergic or other adverse reactions to soy often appear in the form of rashes, hives, eczema, vomiting, indigestion, diarrhea, weak pulse, stomach cramps, dizziness, swelling of facial features, consistent coughing, blue coloring of skin, and more. A National Food Poisoning Lawyer, Dr. Tony Coveny, in accordance with the prior information, encouraged all consumers, in particular those who have known soy sensitivities or allergies, to “…not purchase or consume of the recalled Green Valley Foods Frozen Meat Pizza Products for safety and potential avoidance of dangerous allergic reactions to this food.” Customers in possession of the afore-described recalled Green Valley Foods Products are encouraged to either discard the product or return it to the location of purchase for a full refund.
