Trader Joe’s has issued a recall on more than 61,000 pounds of steamed chicken soup dumplings. The recall comes after concerns were raised from consumers about potential plastic contamination, “specifically hard plastic from a permanent marker pen” in certain batches of the product.

According to the notice the affected products were produced by CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont Corporation, shipped, and sold nationwide. Consumers who recently purchased Trader Joe’s chicken soup dumplings should check the product for the specific batch numbers identified in the recall notice

  • Trader Joe’s Steamed Chicken Soup Dumplings
  • SKU#:  54988
  • Size/Format:  6-oz. boxes with plastic trays
  • Production Date:  December 7, 2023
  • Lot Codes:  03.07.25.C1-1 and 03.07.25.C1-2
  • Establishment Number “P-46009” inside the USDA mark of inspection

Consumers should return recalled packages to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund or dispose of them immediately. Consumers are urged not to consume the product if it matches the specified batch numbers and expiration dates to avoid any potential health risks associated with plastic contamination. No illness or adverse reactions have been reported but any consumer concerned about injury should contact a healthcare provider.

Trader Joe’s has assured customers that they take food safety seriously and are working diligently to address the issue. Additionally, the company has emphasized its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety across its product line.

One national food poisoning lawyer states that it’s crucial for consumers to remain informed about food recalls and to exercise caution when purchasing and consuming food products. Regularly checking for updates from reputable sources, such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the manufacturer, or Food Poisoning News can help ensure consumer awareness of any potential risks associated with the food they consume.

While recalls like these can be concerning, they also serve as a reminder of the importance of robust food safety protocols and the need for transparency in the food industry. By staying informed and taking proactive measures to protect their health, consumers can help minimize risks and ensure a safer food supply for everyone.
