Brote de salmonela es Vinculado a productos de ensalada de BrightFarms.

El 15 de Julio de 2021, los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC) y la Administración de Alimentos y Medicamentos (FDA) anunciaron un nuevo brote de salmonela. Se ha informado de que este brote reciente ya ha enfermado a once personas en Wisconsin, Illinois y Michigan. Aunque la investigación del brote es nueva, la fuente de las enfermedades parece ser la ensalada de productos vendidos por la empresa BrightFarms. BrightFarms publicó una retirada de varios productos de ensalada inmediatamente después del anuncio del brote.

En su retiro, BrightFarms declaró que los únicos productos de ensalada afectados por la posible contaminación por salmonela eran productos específicos cultivados en la granja cubierta de la empresa en Rochelle, Illinois. La compañía también ha revelado que actualmente están trabajando con la FDA para determinar si puede haber productos adicionales que podrían haber sido afectados. En este momento se ha confirmado que los productos afectados por la retirada se han distribuido en tiendas minoristas seleccionadas como Walmart, Jewel- Osco, Strack Van Till, Sullivan’s Foods, Caputo’s, Y Pick’ n Save en Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, y Michigan.

Los CDC declararon que el verdadero número de personas afectadas por el brote probablemente sea mucho mayor que el número de casos notificados y que existe la posibilidad de que las personas de otros estados también se vean afectadas por el brote. Después de entrevistar a las personas afectadas hasta ahora, los CDC descubrieron que las once personas habían comido verduras de hoja antes de enfermarse y al menos nueve de ellas habían comido ensaladas reempaquetadas. A través de la información en los registros de la tarjeta de comprador de los individuos, los CDC descubrieron que siete de los casos reportados habían comprado al menos una marca de ensaladas BrightFarms como Sunny Crunch, 50/50 Spring & Spinach, Harvest Crunch o Butter Crisp.

Los CDC están aconsejando a los consumidores que se abstengan de comer, vender o servir cualquier ensalada de verduras envasadas de BrightFarms. Las personas diagnosticadas con salmonela deben considerar ponerse en contacto con un abogado de salmonela Lo antes posible.
