Yu Shang Food, Inc., based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, has issued a recall of certain ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes (Listeria). Listeria is a bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly in vulnerable populations such as young children, pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with compromised immune systems.
Background
The recall was initiated after routine testing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) confirmed the presence of Listeria in the affected products.
Approximately 4,589 pounds of meat and poultry products are subject to the recall.
This recall is classified as a Class I recall, meaning there is a reasonable probability that use of the food product could cause serious health problems or death.

- All recalled products bear the establishment number “P-46684” or “EST. M46684” inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Consumer Action
As with all food recalls, consumers are strongly advised to discontinue use of the affected product even if it looks or smells safe to eat.
Anyone in possession of the recalled product is requested to not sell, serve, or distribute them.
The affected products should be returned to the location of purchase for a refund or be disposed of immediately.
Consumers should thoroughly sanitize any surface or utensils that have come into contact with the recalled products.

Health Risks

In pregnant individuals, listeriosis can lead to miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or life-threatening infections in newborns.
