Urban River Spirits, LLC, based in Forest Grove, Oregon, has initiated a voluntary recall of several non-alcoholic drink mixes due to potential under-processing risks.  Under-processing could lead to foodborne illness through the introduction of bacteria, chemicals, viruses, or parasites that contaminate the food products.

Background

According to a notice from the company, the recall was initiated because the affected products were “produced in an unlicensed and inspected facility.”

The notice does not specify where the recalled drink mixes were distributed or sold.

The company said they hope to have product testing completed in a timely manner.

Consumer Action

Consumers should search their homes for the affected products.

As with all food recalls, consumers should not consume or continue consuming the affected products if they look or smell safe to eat.

Consumers who have purchased any of the recalled products on or before July 2, 2024 can dispose of them immediately or return them to Urban River Spirits, LLC for a full refund.  Returns can be sent to: Urban River Spirits, LLC, 2114 Main St., Forest Grove, OR, 97116.

Consumers with additional questions or concerns can call Michelle Garner at 503-475-9765 from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Health Risks

At this time, no injuries or illnesses have been reported in connection to the recalled products.  However, consumers who have ingested the recalled products, and are showing symptoms of food poisoning or having other reactions, should contact their medical provider.

Under-processed foods can harbor dangerous bacteria, potentially leading to foodborne illness in consumers.

Commenting on this story, one national food safety attorney said, “Fortunately, no illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported in connection with these products.  I strongly recommend that any consumer in possession of the recalled drink mixes throw them away or return them for a refund to avoid any potential food poisoning.”
