Recall on Organic Soybeans due to Presence of Mold Found at Natural Grocers Stores
Organic soybeans are being pulled from shelves at 145 Natural Grocers stores after routine testing revealed the presence of mold in the soybeans. The Vitamin Cottage Natural Food Markets, Inc., which is a natural grocery chain based in Lakewood, Colorado, issued the recall notice of the two pound bags of organic soybeans due to the presence of mold. The mold was found during routine testing by the company and the production of the soybeans will be suspended while the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) works with the food market to pinpoint the source of the mold problem.
The only organic soybeans affected by this recall are the 2 pound bags with the brand name, “Natural Grocers Organic Soybeans” and the UPC barcode of 000080663607. Customers are told to check the label for the packaged-on dates of 19-168 and 19-205 which are located at the bottom left corner of the label. The recalled soybeans were distributed to 145 Natural Grocers in the following states: Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. The exact location of the Natural Grocers can be found on their website. Consumers that have purchased the organic soybeans that have been recalled are asked to throw out the package or return it for a refund to the place of purchase.
