Go Raw, LLC, Recalls Quest Cat Food for Salmonella Contamination

On November 14, 2019 the Food and Drug Association (FDA) posted a voluntary recall announcement on Go Raw, LLC’s cat food brand, Quest. Go Raw, LLC is a company based in Cottonwood, Utah. The company is recalling its 2 lb. bags of frozen “Quest Beed Cat Food” for possible Salmonella contamination. Go Raw, LLC became aware of the contamination after a food safety laboratory test performed by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture returned positive for Salmonella monocytogenes.

Unfortunately, these products have already been distributed nationwide to various retailers. While there have been no reported illnesses linked to this contamination, it is important that people check if they may be in possession of it. If so, the FDA recommends that people discard or return the product to its original place of purchase. The product of concern can be identified through it lot number,  UPC 6-91730-17101-8, Lot N128 and the image below:

Unlike, other bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella can cause illness in both people and animals. People often experience flu-like symptoms such as nausea, stomach cramps, diarrhea or bloody stools, and vomiting. Animals can experience fever, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody-stools, as well as lethargy and loss of appetite. However, it is important for pet-owners to know that even asymptomatic pets can carry and spread the bacteria to its owners.

Any further information or questions about this recall can be directed towards Go Raw, LLC at 801-432-7478, Monday-Friday, 9:00am to 4pm MST.  For additional information about Zoonotic outbreaks, or for the recalls of Cat Food for Salmonella Contamination, click here.
