Butternut Squash Trays Voluntarily Recalled By Pero Family Farms Food Company LLC Due To Possible Contamination With Listeria

On the 15th of January 2021, Pero Family Farms Food Company LLC announced a voluntary recall of their Butternut Squash Trays, due to the possibility that their product may be contaminated with Listeria Monocytogenes. As Ron Simon, a National Food  Poisoning Lawyer, stated, “Listeria monocytogenes can cause Listeriosis, a potentially serious and at times fatal infection that has a higher risk of affecting young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.” While individuals with healthy immune systems may only briefly experience symptoms such as nausea, fever, and stiffness, pregnant women are the most susceptible to Listeriosis- which may cause stillbirth or miscarriages among expectant mothers.

The affected products were distributed by the Pero Farms Label, in Missouri, Virginia, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, Texas, New York, Georgia and Maine. While no illness has been reported from the prior-mentioned products, Pero Farms Family Food Company LLC has temporarily halted the processing of their Butternut Squash Trays.
