Unprecedented Levels of Lead Found in Applesauce Due to Intentional Act As of the most recent “official” count, more that three dozen young children have been sickened by shockingly high levels of lead found in applesauce pouches. Officials say that these pouches were tainted with the heavy metal during manufacturing at a plant in Ecuador, where the culpable ingredient is believed to be cinnamon. The cinnamon ingredient tested was found to contain levels over 2,000 times the maximum proposed levels by the FDA – another way of saying that is to explain that a child has consumed more lead in…

FDA’s deputy commissioner for human foods, Jim Jones, has caused a firestorm by suggesting that the evidence collected by the FDA leads it to believe the lead-tainted cinnamon applesauce pouches imported into the U.S. was the result of a deliberate act. The FDA and CDC have identified at least 65 victims in what is expected to be a much wider public health emergency. Lead poisoning impacts children greatly, in even small amounts, and has been linked to anti-social behavior, ADHA, Autism, reduced brain capacity, reduced brain elasticity, mental retardation, cognitive deficiency, drug use, lower IQ and standardized test results, and even…
Lead toxicity has been associated with behavioral handicaps, reading disability, antisocial and hyperactive behavior, juvenile delinquency, and impaired cognition. In addition, preclinical studies suggest an association with drug addiction.
Salmonella Lawsuit Filed in Cantaloupe Outbreak The lawsuit comes as the number of cases in the Salmonella Sundsvall Outbreak increases dramatically. Minnesota has now announced at least 20 CONFIRMED cases (estimates put the actual number as high as 30-1, implying nearly 600 Minnesotans have become ill). In fact, Carlota Medus, the supervisor for Minnesota Department of Health’s foodborne diseases unit, stated: “Currently we are still in the middle of the investigation trying to determine where people were exposed who became ill . . . Were they exposed by the initial cantaloupe that was contaminated, or were they exposed and ate cantaloupe…
The number of deaths (about two percent of identified victims in the Cantaloupe salmonella outbreak), as well as the high hospitalization rate (nearly 50% of identified victims in the Cantaloupe salmonella outbreak) is indicative of a strain of salmonella that is quite severe. But it could get even worse, says Ron Simon, the Cantaloupe salmonella lawyer who has filed a number of lawsuits recently. This outbreak spans over two-thirds of the United States and Canada, and is still growing rapidly as new cases are identified (following positive stool cultures). Among the most heavily impacted states are Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota, and…
It started with Canada identifying an outbreak of salmonella, and tracing it to Cantaloupes. Soon thereafter, state and local authorities identified illnesses in the U.S. that linked to the same bacteria, a serotype of Salmonella with a particular genetic make-up. Authorities then conducted the standard food consumption questionnaires that are routinely used in food borne illness outbreaks, and like Canada, identified cantaloupe as the primary culprit. as the number of confirmed cases in the U.S. rose, it became increasingly obvious that the salmonella outbreak was linked to consumption of cantaloupe and a number of recalls were issued. The official count…
