1800 Employees Exposed to Salmonella Tainted Food in Toyo Tire Salmonella Outbreak Between Nov. 14th and 15th

According to Georgia Department of Public Health Northwest Health District officials, as many as 1800 employees were exposed to food tainted with Salmonella in the Toyo Tire Salmonella Outbreak Between Nov. 14th and 15th.  According to Logan Boss, Public Information Officer of the Department of Public Health Northwest Health District, the pre-Thanksgiving Toyo Tire Salmonella outbreak in White, Georgia sickened at least several dozen people, and led to at least 5 hospitalizations. Boss listed the primary symptoms of the Toyo Tire Salmonella Outbreak included nausea, abdominal cramping, diarrhea, vomiting and fever.

Boss confirmed that his agency was gathering information from the approximately 1800 employees, of which at least 40 have complained of food poisoning, and was actively trying to determine what specific food was contaminated with Salmonella.

Angelo’s of Cartersville catered the event and is at the center of the current investigation.

Ironically, just yesterday, Toyo Tire announced its ninth annual Community Christmas Luncheon.  The annual luncheon is free to any Bartow County resident, and includes roasted turkey, baked ham, cornbread dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, assorted vegetables, homemade desserts, and non-alcoholic beverages. According to the announcement, the Community Christmas Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16 at the Cartersville Civic Center. They did not name the organization or entity who would be catering the event.
