Tip Top Poultry Inc. retira productos adicionales debido a preocupaciones de Listeria.

Tip Top Poultry, Inc. Rockmart, GA, anunció que ampliarían la cantidad de productos afectados por su retiro debido a preocupaciones de listeria.

El retiro original fue anunciado el 28 de septiembre de 2019, durante el cual la compañía Tip Top Poultry Inc. retiro una cantidad indeterminada de productos de pollo Ready – to – Eat (RTE) debido a una posible contaminación de listeria. El retiro afectó a una cantidad no especificada de productos de pollo RTE congelados, cocidos, cortados en cubos o triturados, que se produjeron entre el 21 de enero de 2019 y el 24 de septiembre de 2019. Los productos potencialmente contaminados se distribuyeron en todo el país en los Estados Unidos y Canadá; algunos de los productos retirados se vendieron en minoristas como Food Lion, Aldi, Giant Supermarket y Jersey Mike’s.

La firma notificó al Servicio de Inspección y Seguridad Alimentaria (FSIS) sobre la posible contaminación y retiro los productos con los códigos de que van desde 10000 hasta 19999, así como entre 70000 y 79999. Los productos sujetos a retirada llevan el número de establecimiento “Est. P-17453” dentro de la marca de inspección del USDA.

Según el FSIS, no se han confirmado reacciones adversas debidas al consumo de estos productos. Cualquier persona que haya experimentado síntomas como fiebre, dolores musculares, dolor de cabeza, rigidez en el cuello, confusión, pérdida de equilibrio y convulsiones a veces precedidas por diarrea u otros síntomas gastrointestinales después de comer cualquiera de los productos retirados debe proveedor de atención médica tan pronto como sea posible, ya que son síntomas de listeria. El FSIS ha expresado su preocupación de que algunos de los productos retirados puedan estar en refrigeradores y congeladores institucionales y de los consumidores.

La listeriosis es una infección causada por el germen Listeria monocytogenes. Según los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC), la enfermedad afecta principalmente a mujeres embarazadas, recién nacidos, adultos mayores y personas con sistemas inmunitarios debilitados. Las personas normalmente contraen la enfermedad al comer alimentos contaminados con listeria monocytogenes.
