PUNE – Food Poisoning Incident Strikes 26 Young Students
A food poisoning outbreak occurred Thursday at a school in Pun during the annual Navratri religious festival. The incident affected 26 students after they consumed bread and chutney served as part of the celebration.
The students, ranging in age from 10 to 14, began experiencing food poisoning symptoms including stomach pain, vomiting, and dizziness after eating the food around mid-morning. In response to the situation, emergency services were called to transport the sickened students to a local medical facility.
All 26 affected students were admitted to the hospital, where they received immediate care. Medical professionals determined that the bread and chutney served at the school were the source of the food poisoning.
The students are currently reported to be in stable condition.
Upon learning of the incident from school officials, parents rushed to the hospital to check on their children’s well-being.
In the wake of the incident, an investigation has been initiated after parents accused the school of negligence.
The school president said that the school administration would cover the medical expenses of the affected students and that legal action would be taken against those responsible for serving the food that led to the incident.

Despite efforts to save him, the 5-year-old succumbed to the illness while his parents are currently fighting for their lives in the intensive care unit at a local hospital.
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation into the incident. While food poisoning is suspected as a possible cause, authorities are exploring all angles, including the possibility of a suicide attempt.
Forensic analysis of the cake and further medical reports are pending, which are expected to provide crucial information about the cause of the family’s sudden illness.
Later reports, however, call into question as to whether or not the cake was solely to blame. The family had also eaten a few different dishes that had been prepared for a religious holiday, including some items that had been prepared nearly a week earlier along with the cake.
The father’s employer released a statement expressing their condolences and assuring full cooperation with the authorities. A company spokesperson emphasized their commitment to food safety, stating that all restaurant partners are required to have an FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) license before offering food on their platform.
LATUR – Suspected Food Poisoning Hospitalizes Nearly 50 Female Students in Latur
Approximately 50 female students at the Puranmal Lahoti Government Polytechnic college were hospitalized Saturday due to suspected food poisoning following dinner.
Within 90 minutes of consuming a meal of rice, flatbread, okra curry, and lentil soup, many began experiencing nausea, with some progressing to vomiting.
College officials immediately notified emergency services and ambulances were mobilized to take the ill students to a local hospital.
By midnight, nearly 50 students had been admitted for treatment. Hospital officials reported that while 20 students were discharged by early morning Sunday, another 30 students remained under medical care. He assured parents that none of the patients were in critical condition and that all were receiving appropriate treatment, including intravenous fluids where necessary.
The college’s principal stated that immediate action was taken upon learning of the students’ illness and that a thorough health check was being conducted to ensure no further risk to any student.
After being notified of the incident, local authorities took food samples for analysis to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning.
A Latur politician has urged the District Magistrate to take action against those responsible for the incident.
PATNA – Food Poisoning Incident Affects Family of Six
Five children and one adult fell ill due to suspected food poisoning early Tuesday morning after the group returned from a local fair.
According to the father of the family the affected individuals reportedly ate a light dinner after returning home, stating they had consumed snacks at the fair. Around 1 a.m. on Tuesday, they began experiencing food poisoning symptoms of vomiting and diarrhea and were promptly taken to the hospital for initial treatment.
Due to the severity of their condition, the patients were subsequently transferred to a larger area hospital for more advanced care. Hospital officials confirmed that all the children exhibited symptoms consistent with food poisoning and suggested that the consumption of potentially stale food at the fair may have been the cause of the illness. The official noted that despite receiving first aid, the patients’ critical condition necessitated their transfer to a more advanced medical facility.
This incident follows two other recent cases of food poisoning in the area. On September 28, 11 children fell ill after consuming contaminated food during their midday meal.
DALTONGANJ – Food Poisoning Suspected in Illness of 61 Female Students
Sixty-one students at a residential school fell ill on Saturday and were taken to a local health center.
The students, all female, had finished lunch when many began to experience symptoms of food poisoning, including stomach pains, nausea, and vomiting.
The doctor who treated the students said that the majority had mild symptoms and were given oral medication to help them recover. Sixteen of the students, however, exhibited more severe symptoms and were given injections. All students have since recovered and have been discharged.
A regional education director said that testing would be forthcoming to determine the cause of the incident.
Commenting on this article, one national food poisoning lawyer said, “In many of these incidents, a recurring theme is that once victims began experiencing symptoms of food poisoning someone called emergency services right away. Getting medical treatment as soon as possible can help ease symptoms and, in some cases, be life-saving. I recommend that any consumer exhibiting signs of food poisoning to contact a medical provider immediately.”
