Texas Food Poisoning Law Firm Files First National Lawsuit in Salmonella Outbreak
The nation’s leading salmonella law firm, and the only law firm in Texas whose sole practice is food poisoning, filed the nations first lawsuit in the Salmonella Thompson outbreak. The filing comes on the heels of two MAJOR discoveries by the CDC, including the source of the Salmonella Thompson outbreak, with over 100 victims linked to salmonella tainted frozen fish, and the identification of the Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak linked to whole ONIONS. In the whole onion outbreak, at least 652 victims have been identified so far, with about one-quarter are in TEXAS.
Both outbreaks have hit as COVID continues, making it challenging to seek medical attention and overwhelming local health departments already stretched thin. Unfortunately, according to some CDC estimates, as many as 20 or 30 victims get sick for everyone who seeks medical attention and submits a stool culture. This means there could be many thousands more victims who the CDC has not been able to identify. Ron Simon, lead attorney at Ron Simon & Associates, stated: “we are fearful the high number of victims will only continue to grow. With nearly 800 victims in the two outbreaks already, we suspect many more will be identified. With the frozen fish, many consumers may still have dangerous products in their refrigerators of freezers.”
Both companies, including ProSource Inc. and Northeast Seafood Products, have withdrawn their products and are working with investigators. In addition, despite the challenges, the local and state health agencies have done a remarkable job in tracing the origin on these many illnesses to their sources.
