Johnston County Hams Recall of Ham Biscuits Products by Callie’s Charleston Biscuits, LLC – Listeria Identified
Four customers at Homegrown restaurants in Redmond, Kirkland, and Seattle, Washington, have tested positive for e. coli after consuming the restaurants’ food. All four patrons ate the chicken pesto sandwich in late April. Environmental health investigators are working to determine which particular ingredient in the sandwich caused the illnesses.

Country ham biscuits recalled in response to ham contamination

One of the ripple effects of the Johnston County Hams recall is an additional recall of ham biscuits products by Callie’s Charleston Biscuits, LLC. Callie’s is recalling two products that may contain Johnston County Hams that are potentially contaminated with listeria.

Callie’s is recalling two of its biscuit products and advising consumers not to eat them if they have the biscuits in their homes:

  • Country Ham Biscuits UPC: 897856002001
  • Cocktail Ham Biscuits UPC: 897856002049

These biscuits were produced and shipped between April 3, 2017, and October 3, 2018, and distributed to customers nationwide.

Johnston County Hams previously recalled approximately 89,096 pounds of ready-to-eat ham products because they are potentially contaminated with listeria monocytogenes. Between July 8, 2017, and August 11, 2018, there have been four confirmed cases of listeriosis, including one death, directly linked to the ready-to-eat deli-loaf ham products produced by Johnston County Hams.

“Consumers should beware,” says the nation’s most experienced E. coli lawyer Ron Simon, “as there will probably be more recalls related to these ham products.”

Consumption of food contaminated with listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon, but potentially fatal disease. Listeriosis can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in those with weak immune systems, such as infants, the elderly, pregnant women and persons with human immune deficiency virus (HIV) infection or undergoing chemotherapy. Symptoms include high fever, severe headaches, neck stiffness, nausea, confusion, and convulsions.

If you have consumed Johnston County Hams or Callie’s Charleston Biscuits and have experienced any of these symptoms, contact the nation’s most experienced E. coli lawyer at 1-888-335-4901 to learn more about your legal options.
