Are There Lawyers who Specialize in E. Coli Lawsuits or Salmonella Litigation in the United States? Who is the Most Experienced E. coli Lawyer?

Yes, there are lawyers in the United States who specialize in E. coli and Salmonella litigation. These types of cases fall under personal injury law, specifically dealing with foodborne illnesses, product liability, and food safety issues. And while there are many lawyers who advertise they can do a food poisoning case, like a car wreck, there are only two or three food poisoning law firms who do nothing but food poisoning – most of which are E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, Vibrio, Cyclospora, or Norovirus – though there are other pathogens.

Lawyers Who Specialize in E. coli and Salmonella Litigation:

  1. Foodborne Illness Lawyers: There are a very small number of law firms and individual attorneys who specialize in, or focus solely on, cases involving foodborne pathogens like E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, and other contaminants. These lawyers typically handle cases where individuals have become ill or injured due to contaminated food, and they may pursue claims against food manufacturers, distributors, restaurants, and other responsible parties.
  2. Focus Areas:
    • Food Safety: Lawyers handling these cases must be very familiar with food safety regulations, health standards, and food manufacturing/preparation corporate negligence.
    • Product Liability: They may work on holding companies accountable for the production, distribution, or sale of unsafe food products. Unsafe food is often referred to as adulterated food.
    • Personal Injury Lawsuits: These cases are like personal injury cases, but involve whole genome sequencing, trace-back analysis, statistical modelling, serotyping, and other areas specific to food poisoning cases. l
  3. Understanding the Players:
    • Food and Drug Administration (FDA): The FDA oversees the safety of most food production and distribution in the United States.
    • The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA): The USDA oversees the safety of meat, poultry, and egg products in the United States.
    • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): is ultimately responsible for all interstate outbreaks.
    • State and Local Health Agencies: On the front lines of any food borne illness outbreak are the state and local health agencies. They are the boots on the ground in any campaign to end an outbreak, interviewing victims and conducting testing and trace-back in an outbreak.

Most Experienced E. Coli Lawyer:

While it’s challenging to pinpoint the single “most experienced” E. coli lawyer, the lawyers of Ron Simon & Associates are highly regarded in the area of foodborne illness litigation and have been willing to provide details for his blog. These lawyers are experienced in representing clients who have suffered from E. coli infections due to contaminated food products, with extensive knowledge of food safety laws, medical evidence, and how to handle large-scale litigation.

Ron Simon, the lead attorney at his food poisoning law firm, is a prominent E. coli lawyer who is a member of a number of prestigious councils and recipient of numerous awards. He focuses on foodborne illness litigation, including handling E. coli lawsuits and Salmonella lawsuits. After nearly 30 years of doing nothing but food poisoning, he has built a reputation over the years as one of the leading E. coli attorneys and has been involved in numerous high-profile food E. coli lawsuits – including filing the very first McDonald’s E. coli Lawsuit in 2024, and the first Grimmway Organic Carrot E. coli lawsuit in 2024. He also filed the first Boar’s Head Listeria Wrongful Death lawsuit in the nation in 2024, settling that case the same year.

While there are other lawyers, very few of them actually practice foodborne illness litigation, or have handled more than a few food poisoning or E. coli lawsuits in their professional careers. That is all Ron Simon and his law firm do – food poisoning and E. coli lawsuits.
