Conventional Butternut Squash Items Recalled By Lancaster Foods Due To Possible Contamination

Conventional Butternut Squash Items Recalled By Lancaster Foods Due To Possible Contamination

On the 19th of January 2021, Lancaster Foods LLC announced the recall of all their conventional butternut squash items processed between 12/22/2020 to 01/08/2021, due to possible contamination with Listeria Mynocytogenes. The Listeria Mynocytogenes organism is, as one National Food Poisoning Lawyer has stated:

 “A potentially serious and at times fatal infection that has a higher risk of affecting young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.”

Symptoms include severe headache, high fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea, stiffness, nausea, and even miscarriages or stillbirths among expectant women.

The majority of the affected products were distributed in retail stores, at the posterior locations:

-North Carolina

-Virginia

-District of Columbia

-Maryland

-Pennsylvania

-New York

-New Jersey

-Connecticut

-Rhode Island

-Massachusetts

-New Hampshire

-Vermont

The noted recalled items are as following:

  • 12 oz. Butternut Squash Noodles- UPC 8 13055 01749 3
  • 12 oz. Butternut Squash Noodles- UPC 8 13055 01864 3
  • 12 oz. Butternut Squash Noodles- UPC 6 88267 17259 5
  • 12 z. Butternut Squash Planks- UPC 8 13055 01272 6
  • 20 oz. Squash Noodle Medley- UPC 8 13055 01836 0
  • 20 oz. Squash Noodle Medley- UPC 6 88267 18585 4
  • 2.5 # Butternut Squash Chunks- UPC 8 13055 01596 3
  • 20 oz. Butternut Squash Chunks- UPC 8 13055 01105 7
  • 24 oz. Butternut Squash Chunks- UPC 8 13055 01300 6
  • 12 oz. Butternut Squash Chunks- UPC 8 13055 01391 4
  • 15 oz. Veggie Rice Blend- UPC 8 13055 01014 2

Lancaster Foods LLC is working closely with the FDA to examine the cause of the contamination, and has decided, for the time being, to halt all production of their conventional butter squash items.
