Cilantro Fresh Mexican Grill Salmonella Outbreak Remains Under Investigation: DPH Seeks Help from Victims to Narrow the List of Contaminated Items
The Cilantro Fresh Mexican Grill, located at 1158 Whalley Ave, New Haven, CT 06515, has been in business since December of 2012. Now it is temporarily closed due to a Salmonella outbreak linked to consumption of the food prepared there.
The Department of Public Health (DPH) ordered it closed while the investigation is ongoing – DPH is also asking patrons who ate there and subsequently became sick to call them and report their illness so they can conduct a thorough interview with each potential victim. The interviews enable the DPH to narrow the possible source to one or two items, and may help uncover the original source of the contamination.
Victims are encouraged to call 860-509-7994 to report their illness to the DPH.
The identified victims all ate at the Cilantro Fresh Mexican Grill in June of 2017, and thereafter began to suffer fever, nausea, diarrhea, and/or vomiting, abdominal cramping, and body aches. And although the DPH has not revealed how many victims have been identified so far, we know that some of the victims have been seen in the emergency room or admitted to the hospital due to dehydration.
No deaths have been reported.
