According to a national salmonella lawyer, a salmonella outbreak has left 23 people sick after dining at The Old Country Buffet in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
Minnesota health officials are now investigating the outbreak, which left 23 people sick with abdominal pain, fever and diarrhea after dining at the restaurant in late January.

11 of those cases tested positive for Salmonella Enteritidis, and one person was hospitalized, Minnesota Health Department spokesperson Doug Schultz told reporters.
Schultz said the cause of the outbreak remains unidentified, but there is no longer ongoing transmission, and the outbreak appears to be over. According to one prominent salmonella lawyer, Ron Simon, the source of the salmonella in an outbreak is often not identified with any specificity, and inspectors instead look to see how closely the restaurant followed proper food handling rules and standards.
The restaurant was inspected by Hennepin County Environmental Health officials after the reports were made and the restaurant is cleared to stay open.
