Hiland Dairy Recalls Low Fat Chocolate Milk Cartons Produced in Norman, Oklahoma
On the 17th of January 2021, the Hiland Dairy company announced the recall of their 1% low fat chocolate milk cartons, due to the chance that the chocolate milk may contain food-grade sanitizers. This contamination is a result of protocols that were not followed at the Hiland Dairy’s facility at Norman, Oklahoma. Consumption of this could cause illness.
The recalled product’s UPC is 72060-00156-3, has a Sell-By Date of 01/27/2021, and a Plant Code that is 4025. One half-pint, 236 mL, chocolate milk 1% low fat produced only in the Norman, Oklahoma facility have been recalled.

After internal quality-control testing was conducted at Hiland Dairy’s Norman, Oklahoma facility, the afore-mentioned company confirmed the issue. In order to begin the recall of the Hiland Dairy chocolate milk cartons, this was followed by immediate contact of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
All the products with a January 27 code are being recalled, in order to ensure the safety of all consumers. A total of 240,000 cases of Hiland Dairy’s 1% low fat chocolate milk cartons were distributed. Hiland Dairy is committed to the safety of their customers, and therefore is working closely with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to limit any and all illness caused by the possible infiltration of food-grade sanitizer in their chocolate milk.
The 1% low fat chocolate milk one-half pint is the only product of The Hiland Dairy Company affected.
