DETROIT, Michigan — July 23, 2026 — With as many as 12,000 laboratory confirmed and pending victims sickened in the nation, most of those in Michigan, sick citizens are coming forward seeking legal representation.
Now a Detroit resident, Cammal Ogletree, who was recently hospitalized, has obtained legal representation with Ron Simon, the nation’s food poisoning lawyer, in her fight for justice against Taco Bell and Taylor Farms.

Cammal Ogletree, 53, ate at her local Taco Bell in Allen Park, Michigan, on June 15th. Six days later, Cammal was suffering unabated diarrhea, horrible abdominal pain, headache, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, aches and pains, and loss of appetite. On June 24th, as her condition deteriorated, she went to Get Well Urgent Care of Detroit. They provided treatment and she went home, but her symptoms only got worse.
On June 26th, Cammal represented to the emergency room at Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital where she placed on IV fluids and provided medication for her symptoms, She was sent home to recuperate, but as the days went by, her condition only seemed to worsen.
On July 6th she returned to Henry Ford Providence Southfield Hospital where, this time, she was admitted. She remained in the hospital for 3 days, testing positive for cyclospora. Over the last month, Cammal has been seen for follow up care on several times.
Another Michigander Hospitalized – According to Simon: “About 1–in–10 victims contacting my firm have been hospitalized.”
Cyclospora illnesses are, by all accounts, horrible experiences. The illness can last 30-60 days, untreated, but most people recover without being hospitalized. But as many as 1-in-10, according to national food poisoning lawyer Ron Simon, report having to be hospitalized.
The Ugly Truth About Cyclospora
Cyclospora is found on fruits and vegetables. But it comes from the human feces of the last victim. In short, an infected person “sheds” the cyclospora when they have a bowel movement. The cyclospora then needs time to mature outside the body as “sporulation” occurs. After a matter of days or weeks at temperatures between 70° to 90°, the “sporulated oocysts” contaminate fruits and vegetables and are ingested by another person. Between 2 days and 2 weeks later, that person begins to suffer the symptoms of Cyclosporiasis.

Five States at the Center of the Taco Bell / Taylor Farms Cyclospora Outbreak
Federal and state health investigators have now confirmed that shredded iceberg lettuce served at Taco Bell locations in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and West Virginia is responsible for a massive outbreak of Cyclosporiasis. The lettuce was grown in Mexico by Taylor Farms and imported to the United States for wide-ranging distribution, including to Taco Bell. Taco Bell has removed all shredded lettuce from all stores and said in a statement saying it was “deeply concerned for those who became ill, their families, and the many Americans whose trust in the safety of their fresh produce has been shaken.”
