On July 15, 2023, Mulan Dumpling, LLC, recalled 1,560 pounds of frozen meat and poultry dumpling products that were produced due to the fact that they were not inspected by the proper federal authorities. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall, citing the lack of federal inspection during the production process. In recent weeks, Ferrero, the chocolate manufacturer, temporarily paused production at its Arlon factory in Belgium due to the detection of salmonella. This is the second outbreak of salmonella at the factory in this calendar year. The company confirmed that products which were sold had tested negative for the bacteria, but a portion of the production line was shut down as a precautionary measure. The bacteria was identified near the end of June, but the exact location in the factory, or likely source of the salmonella contamination, remains unclear at this time. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported a significant increase in norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships in 2023. This year, there have been 13 recorded outbreaks, the highest number since 2012. The most recent outbreak occurred on a Viking Cruises ship, where approximately 120 passengers and crew members became sick out of a total of 1,200 people on board. The outbreak is believed to have been sourced from a shoreside restaurant in Iceland, where a group of guests had dined, rather than from someone on the ship. The company’s slogan is “Take N’ Bake Pizza.” In this recall, however, the two suspected products/flavors are Chocolate Cookie Dough and Smores’ Bar Dough. Unpasteurized Milk Recalled Due to Possible Coxiella Burnetii Outbreak Missoula County Health Officials are issuing a warning for unpasteurized, raw milks sold at farmers markets due to possible Coxiella burnetii concerns. Coxiella burnetii is a bacteria commonly found in birth products like amniotic fluid, the placenta, urine, feces, and the milk of infected animals. Invasive Escherichia coli disease (known as IED) is very dangerous and, at times, can be life threatening. It is caused by Escherichia coli., or its abbreviated name “E. Coli.” E. coli is frequently found in the gastrointestinal tract., which includes the mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, and anus.
