Company Announcement

Bokhary Foods Inc. (d.b.a EKTA Foods) of Lawrence, MA is recalling GODAVARI brand dried apricots, because they may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

GODAVARI brand dried apricots were distributed in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut through retail stores between 7/10/2021 and 11/24/21. The product comes in 7 oz and 14 oz clear plastic-film bags with the GODAVARI brand label on the front. Each bag is filled with orange-colored dried apricots that can be seen through the bag. The product 7oz product UPC is 0 03658 50001 4 and the 14oz product UPC is 0 03657 5001 5. There is no other coding on the packaging.

No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling at retail by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed the presence of sulfites in the 14oz packages of GODAVARI brand dried apricots, which were not declared on the label.

Consumers who have purchased 140z packages of GODAVARI brand dried apricots are urged to return them to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 508-988-5595 between 8:00am am and 6:00pm EST, Monday through Friday.
